Delta Clock Smoked Oak

DESCRIPTION

Inspired by the sundial, Delta Clock tells time with the help of light and shadow. The folds in the surface indicate the passing hours of the day and create different shadowplays when exposed to light.

MATERIALS AND SIZE

The wood used for this product is locally harvested in Europe. Our suppliers only use FSC® certified wood which is sourced from forests that are responsibly managed in the most environmentally sustainable way possible. 

Fuming (smoking) oak is a natural way of darkening it: once exposed to ammonia, the tannins in the oak wood change its colour to greyish-brown.The picture above shows the difference between the classic Delta Clock Oak and the version in smoked oak.

Fun fact: Fuming wood was an accidental discovery, made centuries ago in England after it was noticed that oak boards stored in a stable had darkened from exposure to the ammonia fumes from horse urine.
