Making a Puff Quilt for my Nephew
Share
My nephew Henry is about 6 months old and as adventurous as they come. I decided to make him a heavy, soft puff quilt for his playtime on the floor! For the fabric I chose Riley Blake’s line of “Little Engine That Could” fabric, a childhood favorite story of mine that I’m sure has something to do with my love of model trains! I am beyond pleased with how it turned out, flaws and all. This was by far the most difficult project I’ve attempted.
I followed the Lo and Behold tutorial and it worked out perfectly. I made two changes though along the way- First, I quilted the whole thing together with my machine rather than tying the corners with yarn. It was extremely difficult to do but I wanted this puff quilt to be able to withstand frequent trips through the washing machine. I also did a wide 3.5” double binding versus the folded over backing method, also for strength and longevity.
“I thought I could and I did” :-)
Love you Henry
